About This Role

The K-State Office for the Advancement of Women in Science and Engineering (KAWSE) at Kansas State University invites applications for a full-time, benefits eligible, term position of Program Assistant. This position is contingent on the continuing availability of funding and the need for these services. The Program Assistant will report to the KAWSE Executive Director. Responsibilities include:

  • Handling inquiries received by telephone, email or other communication methods
  • Scheduling and proving agendas and background materials for meetings
  • Assisting with planning and implementing workshops for middle school and high school students as well as programs for undergraduate and graduate students
  • Making travel arrangements and preparing information for KAWSE events
  • Managing the financial accounts for the KAWSE Office ensuring that appropriate business procedures are followed in the processing of payments and reimbursements
  • Supervision of the temporary student employees who will assist with workshops and other events sponsored by the KAWSE office

The K-State Office for the Advancement of Women in Science and Engineering is a part of the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging and works to increase the participation, retention and advancement of girls and women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. The office serves as home of the ADVANCE, SUCCEED, EXCITE! and GROW programs. These programs are open to all genders, and emphasize the exciting educational and professional opportunities available in the various STEM disciplines.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma and one year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Evidence of excellent written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects at once
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of people in various circumstances including periods of high stress
  • Experience with standard office and website technology including Quiken, K-State’s HRIS, EFORMS, etc.
  • General event planning
  • General office equipment knowledge (e.g., copiers, faxes, multi-line phone, scanners)

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range

$18.75- $23.08 hourly
