About This Role:  This is a 12 month, full time (40/hours/week) position with Kansas State University, Department of Entomology.  The position titled Program/Project Manager I is located in Manhattan, KS.  This position will be responsible for high-level program support for the Department of Entomology. This person will be engaged in all aspects of the department to include planning, developing, and managing events, coordinating program activities with internal and external partners, identifying and coordinating multi-institutional grant proposals, developing and delivering reports, and managing and tracking departmental spaces including renovation projects. Applying project management skills, this position provides advance planning and continuous strategic management for Entomology program activities as it relates to research, extension, and teaching. The program manager provides direct professional support to the Department Head and will work closely with the Communications and Marketing Specialist to curate department data, assets, and projects.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing and coordinating successful events from inception to completion.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through with the ability to plan, organize and control large and small projects through completion.
  • Familiarity with project management and task automation software such as Airtable, Monday.com, ClickUp, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to exhibit professional judgment, problem-solving, time management, decision making, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and in virtual settings as needed.
  • Demonstrated high skill level in word processing, spreadsheets, and other software programs including, but not limited to, Microsoft  Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated success in providing administrative support and informal leadership at the programmatic level.
  • Experience with grants and/or contract administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, comprehend, interpret and apply complex language such as legal or government regulations and proposal guidelines.

Other Requirements:

  • Must have valid driver’s license to operate a University motor vehicle.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:  $53,581-59,000/gross/year ($25.76-28.37/hr) plus benefits
