About This Role

Provide oversight and management of the Biological and Agricultural Engineering teaching, research, and fabrication laboratories. The successful candidate must be willing to assist with applied field research projects and student design teams requiring overnight travel. Additional responsibilities include the following:
• Ability to develop, foster and implement safety programs for all BAE laboratories.
• Ability to communicate with diverse clientele (faculty and students).
• Ability to assist undergraduate and graduate students with research / design projects.
• Ability to manage inventories in BAE research fabrication area and BAE vehicle fleet.
• Ability to manage undergraduate labor.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS degree in biological, agricultural, or bio system engineering or agricultural technology management or equivalent is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Midwest USA agricultural and food and fiber production systems is beneficial.
  • Excellent speaking, writing skills and an ability to interact effectively with undergraduate and graduate students are desired.
  • Experience in utilization and application of computer aided design programs as well as be able to understand schematics and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge and proficient technical skills in at least 2 of the following areas: machining equipment, electrical and electronic controls, hydraulic systems and plumbing, cabinetry and carpentry or  fluid power and transmission.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driving license and CDL upon employment. Forklift, CNC vertical milling, metal work (MIG, TIG, plasma torch), and CAD (solidworks, Creo) experience.

$23.95-$41.91 hourly ($49,825-$87,169)
