About This Role

The Department of Integrated Studies seeks an individual passionate about teaching robotics courses to undergraduate students. K-State Salina’s pedagogical approach is centered around hands-on, applied learning connecting the classroom to real-world industry scenarios. As a teaching focused campus, the use of and experimentation with high impact practices are encouraged and supported through a dedication to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.

Position Responsibilities
Teaching & Curriculum Development
  • Develop and teach new courses and lab experiences in areas such as mobile robotics navigation, embedded systems, sensing and perception, autonomy, and simulation.
  • Mentor student projects, applied learning activities, and capstone teams working on autonomous mobile robot systems.
  • Contribute to ongoing growth of the Robotics & Autonomous Systems degree and the associated laboratory spaces.
Applied Research & Industry Collaboration
  • Engage in applied research, industry-sponsored projects, and technology development related to autonomous systems.
  • Partner with industry stakeholders to support collaborative projects, internships, and workforce-aligned curriculum initiatives.
Service
  • Contribute to recruitment, outreach, and community STEM events, including support for clubs, competitions, and campus tours.
  • Assist in ongoing development of the Robotics & Autonomous Systems program and its applied learning mission.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

This position is expected to engage in campus community and be present on-site. The selected candidate should expect to teach in-person classes.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MS in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field upon start of position or before August 2026.
  • Programming background with robot operating system (ROS) experience.

The degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated industry experience developing autonomous robotic systems
  • Experience working with IMUs, 3D depth cameras, LiDAR and various sensors.
  • Working knowledge of state estimation and autonomous navigation techniques.
  • Experience supervising student teams, mentoring interns, or leading applied learning initiatives.
  • Proficiency with modern simulation tools such as Gazebo, Isaac Sim, or MuJoCo.
