About This Role

The social media and events specialist will support promotion and outreach for the K-State Libraries through the coordination and management of Libraries’ social media accounts and events. K-State Libraries serves a wide audience consisting of students, faculty, staff, researchers and community members, and we use social media and events to educate, support and entertain our patrons. This position will manage and execute the Libraries’ social media presence through engaging, informative and innovative content. This position will also plan, coordinate and assist with events for a variety of audiences, in cooperation with the executive assistant to the dean. Events include those organized by the Libraries and those held in Hale Library and organized by other partners.

The social media and events specialist reports to the director of strategic communications and marketing. This position will collaborate with the department’s graphic designer, as well as other departments throughout the Libraries and the university.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing social media for a higher education institution or business.
  • Experience planning and coordinating events.
  • Experience managing Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter) and TikTok.
  • Familiarity with Later or other social media management software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in photography, videography, photo editing or video editing.
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva for creating images.
  • Experience supervising students or staff.

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range

$20.30 - $25.87 per hour ($42,216 - $53,819 annual salary)
