About This Role

Kansas State University’s College of Agriculture is seeking an energetic Student Engagement Coordinator that is ready to engage with students and their families through social media and at in-person events and activities. The Student Engagement Coordinator provides essential programming and support within the academic student services function by optimizing student engagement through both departmental and college level events and activities. Utilizing a comprehensive understanding of institutional programs, procedures, and policies, this role assists fosters and develops student engagement and involvement; develops social media content as it pertains to student engagement; assists with current and prospective students, their families, and faculty with a variety of inquiries and topics. Key responsibilities include developing and facilitating student engagement, working with departmental and college level staff to provide social media content as it pertains to student engagement activities, supporting college level summer programming for prospective students, supporting departmental student organizations, coordinating internship opportunities, and providing back-up for the recruitment team as needed. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, develop, facilitate and/or support student engagement opportunities/events in the department and college.
  • Creating and implementing targeted marketing campaigns to promote events and programs across campus. 
  • Work closely with orientation instructors to enhance new student engagement with the department, college, and university.
  • Coordinate social media postings with department and college level communications and recruiting staff. 
  • Coordinate the college’s commencement program and graduating senior awards ceremony.
  • Develop social media content from student engagement activities and events.
  • Collecting and analyzing data to assess the effectiveness of engagement programs and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to coordinate internship opportunities for students. 
  • Track and maintain records of student internships and co-op placements and assist with related administrative tasks. 
  • Assist the associate dean with facilitation of the mentoring program.
  • Support planning, marketing, organization, and execution of student organization events and meetings.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and one year of relevant experience. This position may use an educational
    equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience developing social media content
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with student information systems.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Experience handling student records and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Problem-solving skills and a student-centered approach to service delivery.
  • A commitment to fostering a student-centered environment.
