About This Role:
Department of Interior Architecture and Industrial Design (IAID) at Kansas State University invites applications for a Tenure-track or Visiting Professor of Industrial Design for the academic year beginning August 2024. The appointment will be at the rank of assistant or associate professor and has the potential being hired as assistant/associate professor tenure-track position for a qualified candidate. Kansas State University is a land grant institution, and candidates should be committed to a tripartite mission of teaching, creative and/or scholarly research, and service. Teaching
The main emphasis of this position is Industrial Design with a background in either Industrial Design or related field. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach in design studios across the curriculum, and the capability to integrate contemporary methods into their design studio teaching. The candidate should be able to develop courses and/ or teach in one or more of the following areas: ID Studio Coursework (various levels), visual communications, furniture design, research methods, and/or materials and manufacturing. Submitted work must show design and/or teaching excellence in one or more of these areas. This 9-month position at the rank of assistant or associate professor has a proposed starting date of August 2024, with a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Creative and Scholarly Agenda
The successful tenure-track candidate will demonstrate the ability to develop research and creative scholarship based on their teaching and/or creative interests/professional expertise. These interests will form the core of their scholarly/creative agenda and serve as the basis for promotion and advancement.

Our award-winning Furniture Design curriculum augments both of these degree programs. The active learning environment of IAID provides students with an extraordinary education interweaving multiple design disciplines into two strong programs of study. Accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) since 1974 and also approved by NASAD (the National Association for Schools of Art and Design), the IAID program is built upon a 50-year tradition of providing students with a nationally recognized and innovative education.
