Working hours for Veterinary Nurses in this position will include daytime hours Monday-Friday. Excellent communication and leadership skills are utilized daily in this position.

The Veterinary Health Center (VHC) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Large Animal Veterinary Nurse at rank I, II or III. This position is responsible for providing technical nursing services to the Large Animal Barn Section of the KSU-VHC. Primary purpose is to coordinate technical services required for providing quality veterinary care to client, teaching and research patients presented to the Large Animal Barn for treatment. This position is also responsible for monitoring veterinary students and entering information into the electronic medical records system. Stocking and cleanliness of the large animal barn. Lastly, this position is responsible for coordination of animal treatments, instruct, train and supervise students and employees in approved treatment technique(s).

Nurses on this team assist in day-to-day responsibilities like monitoring medical records, organizing technical work, maintaining equipment and supply statuses, as well as coordinating animal treatments. Nurses are given the opportunity to advance their skillset through continuing education and various learning experiences. Excellent communication and leadership skills are utilized daily in this position. Normal work hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm with a rotating emergency on-call schedule.
