About This Role:

Full or part-time engineering/environmental associate (environmental technician) works with PPI specialists on various projects related to industrial environmental compliance, sustainable material management, and pollution prevention.

Engineering Extension and the Pollution Prevention Institute administer various environmentally-related programs, including pollution prevention and the Kansas Small Business Environmental Assistance Program (SBEAP), which provides environmental compliance technical assistance to businesses in Kansas. Technician will do various project support work including helping schools with food waste audits and education, assist with a clean water needs survey, development of compliance assistance calendars and publications, data management, and some field work with other specialists.  Options for full or part-time work hours.

Engineering Extension Department/Pollution Prevention Institute (PPI) is under the College of Engineering, KSU campus or satellite office, including a home-based option.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a high school diploma and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate's degree and strong interest in environmental science and issues. Demonstrated written and oral communication skills; excellent computer skills to include expertise with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and use of the Internet. Industry or environmental education experience. Bachelor degree in engineering or environmental studies with interest in industrial or educational environmental area.

Salary Range / Pay Rate:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications, beginning at $21.63-$26.44 hourly, plus benefits.
