The Veterinary Health Center (VHC) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Veterinary Nurse I, II, or III to join our dedicated Small Animal Surgery team. Though there are many responsibilities of someone in the role, the primary responsibilities are to assist in providing quality veterinary patient care and help with procedures for client, teaching, and research animals within the VHC. Nurses in this position play a vital role in providing support for busy surgery schedules, assisting with educational opportunities, and contributing to meaningful research. Nurses are given the opportunity to advance their skillset through continuing education and various learning experiences. Excellent communication and leadership skills are utilized daily in this position. Normal work hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm with a rotating emergency on-call schedule.

The Veterinary Health Center (VHC) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Large Animal Veterinary Assistant to join our dedicated team to help facilitate exemplary patient care and quality customer service. Primary purpose is to provide technical assistance services required for providing quality veterinary care to client, teaching and research patients presented to the equine, livestock services, and field service department(s). This position is also responsible for monitoring 4th year veterinary students and entering information into the electronic medical records system. Stocking and cleanliness of the large animal barn. Working hours for this position will include Thursday – Saturday 12:00 PM – 12:00 AM.

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide support for the surgery team in caring for client, teaching, and research animals in the VHC. Though there are many ways Veterinary Assistants provide support, some of the key ways are through enhancing help during busy surgery schedules, assisting with teaching opportunities, and helping with research projects. Individuals in this role will also provide meaningful support through maintaining inventory, organizing necessary equipment, and monitoring and assisting in basic aspects of patient care. Effective communication and leadership skills are utilized daily. Normal work hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm with a rotating emergency on-call schedule.

This position supports the routine and specialized care of hospitalized animals in the Veterinary Health Center at Kansas State University by maintaining and ensuring a sanitary and safe environment for patients, faculty, staff, students, and visitors. This position is responsible for the cleaning and disinfecting of large animal common and ancillary areas of the hospital, and ensuring that the large animal facilities meet federal, state, and VHC standards for cleanliness and sanitation.
