The Veterinary Health Center (VHC) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Large Animal Veterinary Nurse at rank I, II or III. This position is responsible for providing technical nursing services to the Large Animal Barn Section of the KSU-VHC. Primary purpose is to coordinate technical services required for providing quality veterinary care to client, teaching and research patients presented to the Large Animal Barn for treatment. This position is also responsible for monitoring veterinary students and entering information into the electronic medical records system. Stocking and cleanliness of the large animal barn. Lastly, this position is responsible for coordination of animal treatments, instruct, train and supervise students and employees in approved treatment technique(s).

Cherokee County is a rural county in the southeast corner of Kansas, bordering Missouri and Oklahoma. Despite being a rural community, there are three larger communities—Joplin, MO; Miami, OK; and Pittsburg, KS—within miles of the county’s borders. Agriculture is the county's main industry, with grain and livestock production contributing significantly to the local economy. This position will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of research-based educational programming related to agriculture and natural resources. Programming may include but is not limited to: agronomy; livestock production; agricultural economics, management, and public policy; horticultural production and management; and natural resources conservation and environmental stewardship.
