The Veterinary Health Center (VHC) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Veterinary Nursing Supervisor to join our dedicated team to help provide exemplary patient care and customer service. This position plays a vital role in overseeing our nursing staff for the Medicine Section which includes Internal Medicine, Hill’s Pet Health, Urgent Care, Emergency, Dermatology, and Oncology services. Nursing Supervisors provide a high-level of input on patient care and helps to direct the work flow in various areas of the hospital. This position holds many responsibilities including the assigning of daily tasks, management of staff hours, establishing of performance standards, and helping in the growth and development of veterinary nurses. This position is given the opportunity to advance their skillset through continuing education and various learning experiences. Working hours for Nursing Supervisors in this position will primarily include daytime hours Monday-Friday with occasional variances. Excellent communication and leadership skills are utilized daily.

This position plays a vital role in providing clinical support for the veterinary staff. Performing dental cleanings and semi-routine tasks such as preparing the dental suite for clinical operations, instrument handling during procedures, and monitoring of consumables are among the many engaging responsibilities of this role. Nurses are given the opportunity to advance their skillset through continuing education and various learning experiences. Working hours for Veterinary Nurses in this position will include daytime hours Monday-Friday. Excellent communication and leadership skills are utilized daily in this position.

Veterinary Nurse I,II,II- Small Animal ICU in Manhattan, Kansas
This position plans, organizes, directs, and controls technical work in the Small Animal Intensive Care Unit of the KSU-VHC during an established shift. Employee maintains equipment and supply status in the SA-ICU area and is responsible for assisting clinicians and senior veterinary students as they provide critical care to client cases in this work area. Responsible for overseeing the cleanliness of the work area, supervising the primary care of critical patients, and ensuring that supplies are not outdated. Monitors medical records and ICU orders of patients for completeness, accuracy, and financial accountability. This position is also responsible for the coordination of animal treatments. Instruct, train, and supervise students and employees in approved treatment techniques.
