We work with community partners in each county to determine needs and deliver research-based information related to agriculture, natural resources, youth development, families, health, wellness, community vitality, and more. This position will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of research-based educational programming related to horticulture. Programming may include but is not limited to: horticultural crop production, marketing, and economics; horticultural waste management; landscape maintenance and improvement; and conservation of natural resources.

This position serves as the front-line office manager. This position is critical to the effectiveness of the office through access to student payments and cashiering services, and through interpretation of student financial data. This position analyzes the impact of tuition and fee assessment, payment options and penalties, and ensures consistent and accurate financial data and responses to customer service questions. This position also compiles and analyzes customer engagements (phone calls, emails, in person visits, etc) in order to improve overall customer service. Communication of numerous policies and procedures are critical, as well as developing relationships with all staff members throughout the office and campus, to ensure consistent and top tier customer service.

The Sunflower Extension District consists of Cheyenne, Sherman, and Wallace counties in northwest Kansas. Three agents, three office professionals, and a multi-county agronomist serve the district’s combined population of just over 10,000 people.This position will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of research-based educational programming related to agriculture and natural resources. Programming topics may include but are not limited to: livestock production; agricultural economics, management, and public policy; horticultural production and management; and natural resources conservation and environmental stewardship.

Extension agents are professional educators who serve as a link between Kansas State University and communities across Kansas. Cherokee County is a rural county in the southeast corner of Kansas, bordering Missouri and Oklahoma. Despite being a rural community, there are three larger communities—Joplin, MO; Miami, OK; and Pittsburg, KS—within miles of the county’s borders. Agriculture is the county's main industry, with grain and livestock production contributing significantly to the local economy. This position will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of research-based educational programming related to agriculture and natural resources.
