Research Associate in Manhattan, Kansas
The Research Associate will be involved in conducting ongoing research in identification of protective African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV) antigens, formulation of prototype vaccines, and conducting immunogenicity and efficacy studies in pigs. Additional area of research will involve testing efficacy and cross-protective capabilities of novel Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV) mosaic antigens in cattle and testing prototype Bovine Parainfluenza Virus-vectored SARS-CoV-2 vaccines in rodent models. Some efforts will also be directed at on-going studies focused on identification of Bovine Ultra-Long antibodies against several target antigens of interest for development of peptide-based therapeutic drugs, adjuvant development, and optimization of Lateral Flow diagnostic tools and EliSpot readouts of interest for which there are no commercial products in the market. The on-going research projects on ASFV and BVDV will utilize multiple live vector platforms, and studies will be conducted in commercial swine and cattle at BSL2/3 levels.

The Salina Upward Bound Program is seeking a temporary Instructor for the K-State Manhattan Campus. This position is responsible for developing and teaching summer curriculum to the TRIO Upward Bound (UB) participants. The Upward Bound Summer Program classes will be held June 11-28, 2024. The instructor reports to the Director and works closely with the Academic Services Coordinator. Instructors will develop a curriculum based on designated subject they are hired to teach (English; Science; Financial Literature; Math; Engineering and Technology; Foreign Language during the summer program for income-limited and/or first-generation college-bound students). Instructor must be versatile in designing regular curriculum along with designing a project-based curriculum. Teach 3-4 classes Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for three weeks. Attend weekly faculty meeting and 1-day training held on June 8, 2024.

The Eastern Kansas Research and Extension Centers at Kansas State University is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor, Extension Agronomist to lead an active and innovative extension education and applied research program to support counties in the Southeast region of Kansas, focusing on agronomic crop production and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team of Extension specialists and research scientists. Tenure home for this position will be in the Department of Agronomy. The successful candidate will investigate forages and cropping systems for the region, collaborate with other subject matter disciplines at the regional and state level, and meet expectations of extension-related scholarship and applied research. The candidate filling this position is responsible for providing leadership for Extension educational programs in forages, field crops, precision agriculture tools/techniques, soils, and weed management in Southeast Kansas. Additionally, the successful candidate will provide mentorship and in-service training opportunities for local unit Extension agents across this region that includes 26 counties.
