The Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a Fellow (Post Doc). This position is for a Post-Doctoral fellow to conduct independent research as part of a newly established research team at K-State (Souza-Neto Lab). This position focuses primarily on studying the interplay between host/vector-virus-microbiome in agricultural and zoonotic arboviruses. The selected candidate will engage in research activities encompassing a wide repertoire of modern technologies including WGS, RNA-seq, 16S microbiomics, gene silencing and genome editing to identify target genes and microbes important for virus infection/transmission that could be further used to the development of countermeasure tools to such diseases. This position is part of multidisciplinary and collaborative activities that will require engagement with collaborators within and outside the college, including USDA, and requires dedication to activities related to insect vectors (mosquito) rearing and manipulation, and eventual support to animal. Duties would include planning and conducting experiments; writing and editing manuscripts/articles; establishing procedures and techniques; and provide educational guidance to students. The position requires the individual to display critical thinking and independent judgement as it relates to ongoing and new molecular, viral, host and vector research with direct guidance from the Principal Investigator.

This position is responsible for the cleaning and disinfecting of large animal common and ancillary areas of the hospital, and ensuring that the large animal facilities meet federal, state, and VHC standards for cleanliness and sanitation.

The Veterinary Health Center (VHC) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Client Services Assistant to join our dedicated team to help facilitate exemplary patient care and quality customer service at the Large Animal Desk. While there are many responsibilities of someone in this role, this position is primarily responsible for greeting and referring clients and patients, managing admissions, and facilitating appointments. Client Services Assistants also provide exceptional customer service through taking calls from clients, listening to customer needs, and providing helpful solutions to any concerns or issues. Excellent communication skills are utilized daily as this position acts as a liaison between clients, patients, and the hospital service providers.

While there are many responsibilities of someone in this role, this position is primarily responsible for assisting in the management of all medical records for the VHC. This position provides real-time auditing services, from standard daytime hours to afterhours and evenings, ensuring that all necessary information is present and accurate. This position will also serve as primary support for the hospital information system, Instinct, assisting students and staff as help and training are needed. Working hours for Health Information Specialists will include three evenings a week and rotating weekends. Excellent communication and organization skills are utilized daily as this position.
