We seek an enthusiastic colleague to help lead an experiment co-designed by The Nature Conservancy and researchers at Kansas State University. The experiment will assess the effectiveness of “virtual fence” technology to control cattle grazing locations with the aim of improving conditions for grassland birds, and improving stream health including water quality, stream macroinvertebrates, and streamside vegetation. The post-doctoral fellow will be jointly supervised by Dr. Alice Boyle and Dr. Walter Dodds (K-State Biology) and collaborate closely with Tony Capizzo (The Nature Conservancy; Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve) and managers from the partner ranch.

This position will serve as a staff assistant/mentor. The Staff Assistant/Mentor is responsible for providing supervision of the TRIO Upward Bound (UB) participants during the Upward Bound summer program held on the K-State Manhattan Campus. The Upward Bound Summer program is June 3-July 12, 2024 and the residential portion of the summer program is June 3-June 28, 2024. The Mentor will facilitate small group activities and events and supervise TRIO Upward Bound participants residing on campus during the residential summer program and while attending college visits, cultural activities, and events. The incoming director will have the unique opportunity to leverage KCDC's strong foundation to establish a vision that shapes the center’s future. The Professor of Practice/Director is a full-time, 12-month appointment reporting to the Dean consisting of 50% teaching, 30% administration, and 20% service directed towards the efforts of KCDC.

The Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine, Kansas State University seeks to expand our expertise in infectious diseases of production animals and host-pathogen interactions by hiring an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (tenure-track or tenured) with expertise in basic/domestic animal immunology. This position will be a 12-month appointment with approximately 70% research, 20% teaching, and 10% service appointment. The faculty is particularly interested in individuals with demonstrated experience in working across disciplines and collaborating broadly. Highest consideration will be given to candidates who also possess a strong background in cellular and molecular biology with investigations that are potentially synergistic with current College of Veterinary Medicine faculty interests in infectious diseases, vaccinology, inflammation, toxicology, cancer, public health, and food safety.
