Facilities Building Maintenance is hiring a carpenter position. The carpenter will repair, remodel, and construct all types of university interiors and exteriors of buildings including (but not limited to) classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, laboratories, and tunnels in order to update or repair the structure, to keep it usable by the public sector served, including the construction of new wood and/or metal-framed walls; construct, repair, remove, and install all types of flooring materials, including removal of nonfriable asbestos floor tile; construct, install, and repair windows, wood paneling, sheetrock, trim, and insulation; hang doors, cabinets, acoustic tile, suspended ceilings, and door frames. Assistant Professor, Sorghum Breeding and Genetics 12-month, tenure track position, 80% Research, 20% Teaching Position #W0007443 Location: Department of Agronomy, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS 66506-5501 The Agronomy Department at Kansas State University is seeking an Assistant Professor to develop an innovative research and teaching program in sorghum breeding and genetics to address objectives that enhance the productivity, sustainability, and profitability of sorghum production in Kansas and the Great Plains. Responsibilities include leading a breeding program to develop and release new sorghum germplasm, parent lines, and hybrids. Areas of innovation could include germplasm characterization, application of functional genomics, statistical genetics, and applied molecular breeding approaches to sorghum breeding. Specific research targets may include abiotic and biotic constraints to production and pursuit of improvement for productivity and profitability. The presence of a large and diverse community of sorghum researchers with the KSU Center for Sorghum Improvement and USDA-CGAHR provides ample opportunity for cross-disciplinary collaboration. The incumbent is expected to develop an externally funded research program including the training of graduate students, peer-reviewed publication of research results, and promoting collegiality within the KSU and broader communities. Responsibilities include teaching courses in plant breeding/genetics, and the development of commercially relevant improvements in sorghum through public-private collaborations. The candidate must be able to work in a multicultural setting and create an environment that fosters collegiality, diversity, and teamwork.
Program/Project Manager I Manhattan, Kansas On-site requirement
The Agronomy Department at Kansas State University is looking for a Program/Project Manager I to coordinate an interdisciplinary research team in 7 states for a FFAR-funded project, Increasing Water Productivity, Soil Carbon, and Sustainability of Integrated Multi-Crop Systems Using Field-Scale Research. Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor - Pharmacology Manhattan, Kansas On-site requirement
The Department of Anatomy and Physiology within the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University is seeking a pharmacology faculty member (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor). This is a full-time position with rank and salary commensurate with qualifications. The position is available as (1) a research and teaching appointment (tenure-track/tenured) or (2) a primarily teaching appointment (clinical-track) and may be a 9- or 12-month position based on the applicant. The candidate will be expected to teach pharmacology in the graduate and professional curriculums, and contribute to the service mission of the Department, College, and University. Specific teaching requirements will be tailored to the expertise of the applicant and the needs of the College but it is anticipated that the teaching appointment for this position will be a minimum of 40% for tenure-track and 70% for clinical track. Applicants with the ability to teach additional related biomedical topics, including physiology, are especially desirable. The overall originality and promise of a candidate’s research will be prioritized rather than the candidate’s area of specialization within pharmacology or related fields for tenure-track/tenured candidates. As part of their duties, a tenure-track or tenured candidate will be expected to mentor and train graduate and professional students in an area of the candidate’s expertise and establish and maintain an independent, dynamic, extramurally-funded research program.
