About This Role:

The Agronomy Department at Kansas State University is looking for a Program/Project Manager I to coordinate an interdisciplinary research team in seven states for a Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR) funded project, Increasing Water Productivity, Soil Carbon, and Sustainability of Integrated Multi-Crop Systems Using Field-Scale Research. Bayer Crop Science is the lead industry partner. The person will collaborate with the Project Director on project management, administrative, and implementation issues and maintain clear communication with collaborators on all project performance and implementation aspects. The person will also facilitate and provide leadership in organizing and scheduling monthly project conference calls, annual project meetings, and Advisory Board meetings with the project principal investigators and the project director.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Ecology, Communication or a related field.
  • MS or PhD in Agriculture, Ecology, Communication, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated independence, high motivation, strong work habits, and the ability to work independently and with a group.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and collegially with large teams with diverse disciplinary backgrounds and levels of seniority, as well as project stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, efficient, and detail oriented.
  • Basic understanding of program administration/coordination.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
  • Demonstrate strong research and analysis skills.
  • Ability to assess problems and develop creative solutions.

Other Requirements: 

  • Familiarity with grant-writing, project development and project reporting. 
  • Experience with data management, cleaning, and synthesis of datasets, metadata creation, and designing databases using database systems. 
  • Experience with or interest in agricultural production, agricultural education, and/or rural community development.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

$52,530 - $84,006

Actual salary will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, education, internal equity and departmental funding. Salary offers are typically made between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range. The range indicated includes both the typical hiring range and potential future progression.)
