About This Role

The Carl R. Ice College of Engineering at Kansas State University is seeking to fill four full-time positions in academic advising. These positions will provide advising in one or two of the following departments: Architectural Engineering and Construction Science, Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Industrial and Manufacturing System Engineering. Advisors are expected to assess and respond to student needs while maintaining confidentiality and providing individualized support. In addition to advising, this position will have recruiting and administrative duties at the department’s discretion that will be balanced with the advising load. The successful candidates will be part of a team of advisors who provide academic advising for all College of Engineering students. The advising team’s overarching mission is to enhance student success by providing individualized and comprehensive advising services that meet the needs of student populations. What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • One year of experience related to academic advising or services

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three to five years of previous experience in collegiate academic advising or a related field such as student services, counseling, or higher education administration.
  • Master’s Degree in College Student Development, Engineering, Academic Advising, STEM Education, or a related field.
  • Experience working with student populations, including first-generation college students.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Experience with student information systems such as Oracle-People Soft KSIS and DARS, SSC-Navigate (Student Success Collaborative) or comparable systems.
  • Demonstrated competence in both in-person and online advising and enrollment systems.
  • Adherence to strict confidentiality and compliance with University standards and best practices.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, be detail-oriented and prioritize tasks.
  • Adaptability to changes in policies, procedures, and advising processes.
