About This Role

The successful candidate will serve on the University's team for college access and community outreach to coordinate an independently developed "one-on-one" recruitment strategy for all prospective and admitted students in the Kansas City Metro area. The candidate must reside in the Kansas City Metro area and will be responsible for the following:

  • Apply knowledge of University admissions standards, programs, scholarship and financial aid opportunities, academic majors and programs, and student leadership clubs and organizations to best advise students and parents based on their individual needs, interests, and aptitudes.
  • Exercise independent judgement in developing travel schedules, determining priorities for scheduling visits and event attendance, and in representing the University in public presentations.
  • Initiate and maintain a timely, effective, and personal relationship with prospective students and their parents and family members throughout the recruitment process.
  • Provide guidance, communication, promotional information, consultation and assistance to key partners (i.e., high school personnel, Community Based Organizations, the Office of Admissions and others on the enrollment management team, including Housing and Dining Services, Student Financial Assistance, the K-State Alumni Association, Student Belonging and Inclusion programs, Communications and Marketing, and academic colleges).
  • Coordinate volunteer efforts of alumni and parent volunteers, current students, and K-State faculty and staff to assist in recruitment strategy. Utilize technology to effectively support communication with key constituents.
  • Develop and implement on-campus and regional special events, participate in orientation and enrollment programs, and support other events as assigned. Serve as a K-State presence at selected community events and major public attractions (i.e. county and state fairs, athletic events, college planning events). Support the efforts of all members of the Office of Recruitment and Admissions team in a spirit of teamwork and mutual respect. Complete special projects as assigned.

Worksite Option

This position is remote.

This position requires remote worksite in the Kansas City Metro area. The employee is expected to maintain a home office or other approved location (in accordance with university policy) from which they would work. On occasion, employee may be required to attend events, retreats or meetings on employer premises, designated assignment location and/or performed fully in a remote capacity.  

An employee who is working remotely must reside within the United States in order to comply with all federal and state laws, filings, or tax requirements. What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent organization skills, and the ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment.
  • Strong social and communication skills and the ability to engage with others of diverse backgrounds.
  • Comfort in planning and conducting extensive travel independently, including evenings and weekends.
  • Possess a high energy level and be able to work under strict deadlines. Self-motivation, a team attitude, and a consistent commitment to a high standard of excellence are preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with technology and multiple computer programs (i.e. Microsoft +Office including knowledge of Excel, customer relationship manager software), and efficient use of e-mail.
  • Native or near-native Spanish language proficiency is helpful.

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
  • Valid driver's license upon and during employment.

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range

$42,216 - $53,819 annually
