About This Role

The Assistant Director of Operations serves as a key leader within the Office of Student Financial Assistance overseeing critical financial aid processing, assisting with student system functionality, collaborating with campus partners, and supervising 3 full-time staff members. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with system setup and functional testing of PUM, PRP, and POC maintenance patches released by Oracle to ensure the student information system remains current. Draft functional specifications for system enhancements to improve processing efficiency. Assess delivered system functionality not yet implemented. Create system queries, end-user documentation and training materials.
  • Supervise and support three full-time staff by providing leadership, training, feedback and professional development opportunities. Possess knowledge about verification and federal tax returns, Federal Work-Study administration, and awarding strategies.
  • Development of Cost of Attendance (COA) logic and philosophy drawing upon bi-annual student survey data and consumer price index measurements; configuring and completing COA system setup; supporting staff responsible for COA reports.
  • Oversee ISIR loading to the student information system by staying informed of FAFSA record layouts, comment codes, verification requirements, etc. Work with university Information Technology staff to provide updates to existing processes to ensure efficient business processing.
  • Provide leadership to ensure website content and office forms are reviewed and updated annually in keeping with business process changes.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree and three to five years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Public Administration, or related field.
  • At least three years of experience in student financial aid or related higher education administration.
  • Strong knowledge of Title IV federal financial aid regulations.
  • Experience with student information systems, preferably Oracle Campus Solutions.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Experience configuring financial aid systems and managing COA structures.
  • Familiarity with federal and state work-study programs.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and adapt in a dynamic regulatory environment.

Other Requirements:

  • Individuals may not be in default on a federal student loan and/or owe an overpayment ona federal student grant – to ensure that the individual may be issued access to various U.S. Department of Education databases critical to carrying out this position’s job duties.
