About This Role

This position is a key member of K-State’s Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team and directly supports the College of Agriculture. It is responsible for programmatic safety compliance with Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) / OSHA regulations, industry standards, and best practices across all Kansas State University College of Agriculture operations. The role oversees health and safety programs that protect students, faculty, staff, visitors, and workers engaged in research, education, extension, and operational activities. The position collaborates with internal stakeholders to reduce risk, improve safety performance, and support safe and compliant operations across all locations.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and five years of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of work experience and education. Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong customer service orientation with effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and improve operational safety and service outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver effective training and presentations.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Registered Professional Engineer (PE), or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Working knowledge of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) regulations, OSHA standards, and industry safety practices.
  • Familiarity with KDOL and OSHA regulatory environments.
  • Experience developing or managing safety programs, training programs, and compliance initiatives.
  • Knowledge of agricultural operations, research safety, or industrial/construction safety environments.
