The position aims at developing theoretical and computational methods in ultrafast AMO physics and applying them to support ongoing experimental activities at the J.R. Macdonald Laboratory in the Kansas State University Physics Department.

The J.R. Macdonald Laboratory, Department of Physics, Kansas State University, is seeking multiple POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATES in theoretical ultrafast AMO physics.

Job responsibilities for this role include:

  • Developing theoretical and computational approaches for modeling ultrafast light-induced molecular dynamics.
  • Modeling the outcome of femtosecond and attosecond pump-probe experiments, simulating corresponding experimental observables.
  • Preparing scientific results for publication in peer-reviewed journals and at scientific conferences.
  • Working with and/or mentoring graduate students.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have earned a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in physics, physical chemistry or a related field by the time the position begins.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in modeling photoionization, strong-field ionization, high-harmonics generation and related processes; 
  • Proficiency in different numerical approaches to solving time-dependent Schrödinger equation;
  • Working knowledge of quantum chemistry software packages.

Other Requirements:

  • Applicant must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire.
