About This Role

Kansas State University, as the nation’s first land-grant institution, is committed to providing opportunity and access for all Kansans and their communities. In order to increase capacity and interest in STEM disciplines, the university offers a variety of STEM partnership and outreach programming. This position, Program/Project Manager, will provide creativity and implementation of various activities, including, but not limited to: conducting pre-college outreach events, undergraduate/graduate student recruitment and retention programs, post-doctoral student support programs, and faculty programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan & Execute Events 
    Coordinate and oversee STEM events in collaboration with campus and community partners. Handle logistics, manage materials, and ensure smooth execution.

  • Program Management
    Work with the executive director to lead STEM programs, evaluate outcomes, improve processes, manage budgets, and track performance metrics.

  • Community Outreach
    Promote STEM programs through outreach, marketing, and participation in community and campus events.

  • Communication 
    Manage publicity and respond to inquiries. Help drive ideas for student engagement and retention.

  • Supervision
    Hire, train, and supervise student workers, mentors, and program staff. Coordinate scheduling and oversee performance.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience. This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree and/ or Doctorate degree
  • 5-10 years relevant experience
  • Experience working with K-12 Students, University students and/or faculty members
  • Supervision Experience
  • Budget experience
  • Well organized and self sufficient
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management and communication skills
  • Experience in Microsoft Software
