About This Role

K-State Olathe is seeking a recruitment consultant to lead activities focused on recruitment, classification, and hiring. This position provides expert guidance on position development and recruitment management, recommending and carrying out recruitment strategy for the campus.

The role manages recruitment cycles from position description development and review through offer letters, facilitates hiring committee operations, and ensures compliance with hiring laws and institutional standards. Responsibilities include:

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment including PD review, PageUp activities, application screening, interviews, and offer letters.
  • Hire and maintain documentation for graduate students and a pool of adjunct professors.
  • Participate in panel interviews and facilitate compliance with hiring practices.
  • Develop, update and maintain recruitment resources.
  • Understand and contribute to the campus’ overall workforce plan.
  • Work collaboratively with campus leadership to recommend, develop and carry out the recruitment strategy for the campus.
  • Represent the unit at recruitment fairs and community hiring events.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to promote job postings across key outlets in the KC area.
  • Establish hiring committees, coordinate schedules and activities and facilitate overall search committee processes.
  • Collect and review interview questions and schedule prep meetings.
  • Ensure interview logistics are managed for both virtual and in-person formats.
  • Provide training for new supervisors and hiring committee members on hiring processes and legal compliance.
  • Track search committee training.
  • Ensure adherence to institutional and legal hiring standards.

Kansas State University’s Olathe campus was launched in April 2011 and is the newest campus in the university’s system. The campus is located in Johnson County and the Greater Kansas City metro area. The campus is a strategic partner of the Johnson County Education and Research Triangle, which was created in 2008 when residents invested in the county's future by voting for a one-eighth cent sales tax. Worksite Description

This position is hybrid eligible; however, we require the first 90 days to be 100% on-site. After that period, hybrid eligibility will be evaluated based on individual performance.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience. This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in human resources
  • Proven experience developing and executing recruitment strategies for high-growth organizations
  • Understanding of HR functions and best practices
  • Experience in a higher education setting
  • Exposure to payroll practices to include payroll systems (HRIS)
  • Familiar with recruitment process and applicant tracking systems (ATS)
  • Experience with time management systems (ADP)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other related business communication tools
  • Effective customer service skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
  • Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Thorough attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • HR Certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR/SPHR, HRCI or SHRM)
