The goal for this position is to assist in the operations of the shop facilities as an environment for learning, provide instruction to undergraduate and graduate students in collaboration with APDesign faculty, promote safe practices, and to ensure working order of equipment as well as acquisition of appropriate consumables and materials.
Provides primary fab lab instruction in digital fabrication. Operate CNC machines, including file programming and machine operation. Consults with faculty and students to complete fabrication projects. Assists students with their projects, providing advice on safe and effective operation techniques. Manage 3D printing processes, including file setup and execution, and digital modeling. Ensure compliance with all safety procedures.
Maintenance (diagnosis and repair) of college shop equipment. Procures supplies and consumables at appropriate levels with supervision. Research tools, machines and products. Orders, receives and stores tools, machinery and materials for shop use; loading/shipping of works as needed. Collaborate with KSU Environmental Health & Safety to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Provides instruction to student employees to ensure safety and proper operation of equipment, efficient workflow and project completion.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor's degree. This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager. Preferred Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with students and colleagues.
Proficient in CNC file programing and operation.
Experience in 3D modeling and drafting.
Skill in architectural scale modeling, upholstery, plastics & composites, woodworking, welding, metalworking, and finish
application.
Basic First Aid certification.
Familiarity with powered industrial trucks.
Willingness to lease new operations and techniques.
Mechanical knowledge and ability to perform machine maintenance and repairs.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to fine craftsmanship.
Good time management.
Ability to adapt.
Problem solving.
