About This Role

Lafene Counseling & Psychological Services is looking for two therapists to work part-time and on a temporary basis to assist with high volume times of the academic year. 

This position is responsible for providing  professional counseling and psychological services to individual, couples, groups, and crisis coverage.  This position also provides professional initial mental health assessments with brief intervention with various concerns, providing referrals and bridging care to other resources as needed.

About Us

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) within Lafene Health Center is a comprehensive, short term mental health service located on the campus of Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. Current staff consists of licensed psychologists, licensed couple and family therapists, licensed professional counselors, licensed clinical social workers, psychology interns, and practicum students. CAPS is an APA accredited training site for doctoral interns and a practicum site for students in K-State's Couples and Family Therapy program and potentially other external degreed therapy programs within the mental health field. The principal function of CAPS is to support K-State students through the process of decision making, crisis intervention, and personal skill building. Education, outreach, and prevention are an important part of our function and operations. These endeavors are coordinated by and are conducted in concert with Lafene Health Center.

Worksite Option

This position is required to be completed on-site. 

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or Social Work (i.e. LMFT/LCMFT, LCSW, LPC, etc.)
  • One to three years of relevant experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year post-graduate experience in the mental health field providing individual therapy.
  • Prior experience in a university counseling center.

Other Requirements:

  • Licensed or license eligible by the State of Kansas Behavioral Science Board.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
