About This Role

Kansas State University is seeking a person who has passion for education and workforce development to lead training and development for custodial staff across campus. This position supports K-State’s mission of learning, scholarship, creative endeavor and research by creating and maintaining an environment which contributes to the health and safety of students, faculty, staff and visitors. It also plays a key role in preserving the university's structural assets and ensuring custodial operations meet high standards of excellence. This position exists to design, develop and conduct specialized training for both newly hired and tenured custodial personnel at Kansas State University. Coursework will include both classroom and practice-oriented instruction. Topics will include, but won't be limited to the science of cleaning, safety, procedural techniques, customer satisfaction, preventative maintenance, chemicals, ergonomics, equipment operation, the "why", and both Zone and OS1 performance operating systems. Serves as supervisor for probationary employees, evaluates work and determines status. This position plays a vital role in enhancing service consistency, performance, and long-term workforce development.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Three years relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of commercial custodial services with proven history of positive leadership activity.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Adobe software.
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral.
  • Effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coordinate, plan and organize work assigned.
  • Ability to gather, analyze and evaluate data.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees of organization.
  • Teaching experience preferred. Experience with Adult Learning Principles desired.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
