About This Role

The Veterinary Health Center (VHC) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our dedicated Small Animal ICU team to help facilitate exemplary patient care. Though there are many responsibilities of someone in this position, the primary responsibility is to provide clinical assistance to the ICU staff in the day-to-day operations of caring for critical patients. Individuals in this role will also provide meaningful support through maintaining inventory, organizing necessary equipment, and engaging in basic aspects of patient care. This position prioritizes effective communication and leadership skills daily. Working hours for this position will be Wednesday-Friday, 6pm-6am and every other Saturday, 6pm-6am.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent)
  • One year of relevant experience.
  • Requirements may be met through a combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of experience as a veterinary assistant providing patient care.
  • Ability to work with and provide preventative maintenance for ordinary medical equipment.
  • Ability to handle, restrain, and provide medical treatments to domestic animals.
  • Willingness to master new techniques.

Sponsorship eligibility:

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
