About This Role

The Veterinary Health Center (VHC) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our dedicated Triage Call Center team to help facilitate exemplary patient care and quality customer service. This position is responsible for providing occasional clinical assistance and appropriate service for the calls coming into the VHC for patient appointments and consultations. The hospital mission includes providing quality medical services to clients and training for professional veterinary students. The individual must provide services in a professional manner, is the first impression, and establish the initial contact with the seller. Working hours for this position will be Monday-Friday and variable between the hours of 7am-6pm.

Location and Worksite Option

This position is required to be performed on-site. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • One year of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years full time clinical veterinary experience either in general &/or specialty practice.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, diseases, and symptoms.
  • Ability to multitask in a high stress environment.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a stressful situation.
  • Ability to prioritize and recognize the most effective & efficient process to accomplish the daily workflow.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to handle, restrain, and provide medical treatments to domestic animals.
  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptable to different computer systems/advanced computer skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to help other teammates.
  • A self-starter who is constantly looking for productive ways to fill downtime.
  • Ability to answer multiple phone lines.
  • Ability to perform word processing and data entry procedures on a personal computer.
  • Willing and able to master new techniques.
  • Veterinary Assistant Certification.

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range
