About This Role

The Veterinary Health Center (VHC) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our dedicated Urgent Care team to help facilitate exemplary patient care and quality customer service. The person in this role should possess strong communication and organization skills as well as the ability to prioritize, remain calm, and think clearly when emergencies present to the hospital. Responsibilities may include restraint of patients for treatments, transporting patients, restocking supplies, and maintaining cleanliness and general upkeep of the service area. Working hours for this position will include Monday-Friday, 7am-4pm, with a rotating on-call schedule.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • One year of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to handle, restrain, and provide medical treatments to domestic animals.
  • Ability to work with and provide preventative maintenance for ordinary veterinary medical hospital equipment.
  • Ability to perform word processing and data entry procedures on a personal computer.
  • Ability to write and interpret written direction.
  • Willing and able to master new techniques.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
