About This Role:

The Executive Director of Powercat Financial will provide the strategic vision and leadership for advancing a comprehensive approach to improving the financial well-being of all students at Kansas State University. 

To ensure a blending of administrative and academic services, the incumbent will have a joint appointment within two major units – Powercat Financial (Division of Academic Success and Student Affairs) and Personal Financial Planning (College of Health and Human Sciences).  The Executive Director will hold a faculty title in Personal Financial Planning, with rank depending on candidate credentials.

Specific initiatives include supporting high schools in implementing new financial literacy education requirements, supporting prospective students in developing a college financial plan, integrating financial well-being content into course curriculum, and growing student access to peer-to-peer financial counseling services.  The successful candidate will serve as a leader and convener, directly supervising a dedicated team, as well as facilitating continued partnerships across a multi-campus system, and various stakeholders in Kansas.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7 years of relevant experience

 Academic Rank Determination (through Personal Financial Planning)

  • To be considered for the position of Assistant Teaching Professor, the applicant must have a terminal degree in a related area.
  • To be considered for the position of Professor of Practice, the applicant must have substantial practice experience.
  • To be considered for the position of Instructor, the applicant must have a graduate degree in a related area.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education

  • Either an earned MS degree (by start date) in Personal Financial Planning or a related field OR a BS degree and CFP designation along with substantial practitioner experience in Personal Financial Planning or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in leading or supervising teams with an ability to inspire, train, teach, and effectively supervise staff consistent with university policies in a fair and equitable manner.

Other Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success as a collaborator, relationship builder and change agent.  Engages as a system thinker with a strategic mindset that aligns opportunity and measurable outcomes.
  • Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills – to include a strong consultative and collaborative skills, excellent presentation and writing skills, and proactive and responsive interpersonal skills.  Must also possess strong negotiating skills, as well as the ability to analyze complex problems and implement creative solutions, including data-informed decision making.
  • Experience leading diverse teams and perspectives with an aim to achieve goals; establish effective and timely priorities; stewardship and allocation of resources; and program/unit assessment.
  • Ability to work well with broad and diverse constituents including donors, industry partners, and a larger networks of community stakeholders.
  • Relevant professional designations or licenses.
  • Relevant practitioner experience.
  • Experience teaching in traditional or non-traditional environments.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range:

$94,023.00 - $120,000.00 annually ($3,616.270 - $4,615.385 bi-weekly)
