About This Role:

The individual in this position will successfully administer the federal direct loan program, health professions student loan program, private/alternative loan program, and the federal pell grant program.  This is accomplished by:

  • Transmitting files on a daily basis with the US Department of Education or other entities and resolving any issues with the file transmission,
  • Querying the student system to identify issues with loan/pell records that need resolved,
  • Reviewing reports in order to reconcile programs monthly,
  • Creating person-records in the system for new parent loan borrowers,
  • Collaborating and communicating with other departments across campus or with private loan lenders,
  • Communicating with instructors to verify participation in a course that is dropped/withdrawn,
  • Researching regulatory and compliance issues to ensure proper administration of programs,
  • Assisting in system testing to ensure efficient, accurate processing of electronic files,
  • Assessing the student’s eligibility for Title VII health professions loan by reviewing protocol provided by HRSA.

The person in this position will also be responsible for other processing needs of the office, which include the following tasks:

  • Awarding and adjusting financial aid by researching on a national database aid already received by a student,
  • Adjusting financial aid to keep within student’s need or cost of attendance, or adjusting loans at the student’s request,
  • Resolving stale-dated checks by contacting students or taking other appropriate action,
  • Responding to email and/or phone calls sent by students/families

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • One year of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. in relevant field of study
  • 1 – 2 years of work experience in performing accounting tasks such as reconciliation
  • 2 – 3 years’ experience utilizing a third-party higher education student information or accounting system (Ex. PeopleSoft, Elucian, Blackbaud, Slate, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Strong track record of collaboratively working across business units toward common, mission critical outcomes
  • Robust customer service experience requiring ability to detail/explain complex regulatory/policy rules to customers and the general public
  • Routine experience providing training and/or presentations to small and medium size audiences
  • 1 – 2 years’ experience working for a large, post-secondary educational institution

 

Other Requirements:

  • Individuals may not be in default on a federal student loan and/or owe an overpayment on a federal student grant – to ensure that the individual may be issued access to various U.S. Department of Education databases critical to carrying out this position’s job duties.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range:

$41,388 - $52,764 annually
