General Description of Position: The Department of Kinesiology at Kansas State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the area of exercise behavioral science.  Candidates with strong research backgrounds and demonstrated expertise in any area of behavioral science related to physical activity/exercise in humans (such as obesity and chronic disease prevention, community-level interventions, physical activity policy, and health disparities) are invited to apply. The Department seeks candidates committed to scholarly productivity who will conduct nationally visible, funded research that complements department, college, and university research initiatives; participate in collaborative research programs as appropriate; teach in the undergraduate and graduate Kinesiology program as well as the accredited master of public health program in public health physical activity; mentor graduate students; and provide university and professional service.

Information about the Department: The Department of Kinesiology (www.ksu.edu/kines) includes two focused research disciplines: exercise behavioral science and exercise physiology, with each area comprised of at least five faculty members.  The Department of Kinesiology provides education for more than 650 undergraduate majors and more than 50 MS, MPH and PhD students. The Department provides a collegial and supportive environment that fosters high-quality research and highly-ranked graduate programs. There are numerous opportunities for collaboration with faculty in the Department, the Physical Activity and Nutrition Clinical Research Consortium, the College of Human Ecology, and other Departments and programs across campus.
Job Description: The Department seeks candidates committed to scholarly productivity who will conduct nationally visible, funded research that complements department, college, and university research initiatives; participate in collaborative research programs as appropriate; teach in the undergraduate and graduate Kinesiology program as well as the accredited master of public health program in public health physical activity; mentor graduate students; and provide university and professional service.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent in social/behavioral and/or Kinesiology or related field.  Two years of postdoctoral research experience or equivalent faculty appointment. The ability to obtain external funding to conduct research in exercise behavioral science/public health. Experience teaching at the university level. Mentoring experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Strong research program and demonstrated leadership in any area of behavioral science related to physical activity/exercise in humans.
