About This Role:

Join our HDS financial services team!  In addition to monitoring and administering accounts and transactions, the position offers the opportunity to interact regularly with staff and students at all levels within the organization. The interactions with Residence Hall Treasurers is particularly rewarding as the incumbent is able to enhance learning for student officers as they administer programming accounts for their respective hall floors.

Duties include:

  • Administer more than $2.0M in annual receivables billing

for summer conferences, university department purchases, external event rentals, etc.

  • Process accounts payable for revenue generating areas of HDS, including business procurement cards and high volume procurement areas. 
  • Manage retail rebate participation and programs. 
  • Process, verify and reconcile Dining Dollars interdepartmental redemptions and private program redemptions.
  • Process KSU Foundation payments and monitor scholarship, development, and other related funds.
  • Work closely with residence hall staff in maintaining Social & Educational (S&E) accounts.  Process S&E transactions and reconcile funds. 
  • Present annual expenditure procedural training to HDS student living staff and student officers of Association of Residence Halls. 
  • Utilize e-Forms, DFS, MIP accounting system, ImageNow and other system applications.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma and one year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or related field
  • Two years accounting/auditing experience or minimum three years in an accounting role requiring familiarity with university, state or federal accounting compliance and GAAP principles, including revenue accrual and reconciliation procedures.
  • Cash handling experience, including auditing cash funds in a retail environment.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Oracle, Sap or other similar large ERP financial system.
  • Familiarity with document imaging systems and records retention policies.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with others, including giving direction and guidance to student staff and student organization officers.
  • Ability to communicate tactfully when confronting receivables customers with outstanding balances.
