About This Role:

The Department of Grain Science and Industry is seeking applications for the Baker’s National Education Foundation (BNEF) Instructor. This is a 65% teaching, 35% Service, 12 month position.

The successful candidate will collaborate with Department faculty in the creation and delivery of existing and new courses (laboratory and lecture) both on campus and online.  The execution, growth and quality of the online program is a significant portion of the appointment and will be a high priority for this person.  The individual will work closely with faculty, staff, and other individuals or organizations to recruit students into the Bakery Science program as well as assist in the generation of funds/donations to support the laboratory. Additionally the candidate will manage the day to day operation and use of the Pilot Bakery including maintaining, overseeing and documenting its safe and sanitary operation.  Direct service to the department and its students will also be a critical part of this position including open house, football parking and other opportunities to highlight and serve our programs.

The successful candidate will create an environment that fosters diversity and collegiality and work effectively in a multi-cultural setting.  Other duties as requested by the Department Head will also be performed in keeping with the responsibilities of the appointment.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Baking Science, Food Science or a related science based discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in large industrial or specialty bakery production.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to fostering and expanding diversity in the grain-based food industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to teach in classroom and laboratory settings

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
