Diagnostic Technician I-Necropsy in Manhattan, Kansas
This position within KSVDL exists to serve the needs of clientele/stakeholders (clients, faculty, residents, students, coworkers) in regards to necropsy and sample reception, and assistance with all activities on the necropsy floor. This position will oversee and manage all necropsy floor activities including scheduling for teaching and research, disinfection, adherence to biosafety procedures and protocols in accordance with the KSVDL quality system, management of student workers, maintenance of equipment, record keeping related to the above activities, and maintenance and oversite of the KSVDL bulk autoclave and tissue digester. This position will also serve as an assistant to pathologists in necropsy procedures and sample collection from other samples (i.e. rabies testing, BSE testing, CWD testing). Some flexibility may be required regarding work hours at selected/occasional times.

The Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University invites applications for a full time, 12-month, Post-Doctoral Fellow position. This Post-Doctoral position for independent research including but not limited to viruses such as Influenza, African swine fever, Vesicular Stomatitis, Rift Valley Fever, Monkey Pox and other select agents under both BSL-2 and BSL-3 bio-containment conditions. Duties would include planning and conducting experiments; writing and editing manuscripts/articles; establishing procedures and techniques; and provide educational guidance to students. This position is part of a very busy, successful research team whose main goal is to develop rationally designed vaccines and diagnostics against high-consequence foreign animal, emerging and zoonotic disease threats. The position requires the individual to display critical thinking and independent judgement as it relates to ongoing and new molecular, viral research with direct guidance from the Research Science Manager and Primary Investigator. The research is conducted at the BSL2 and BSL3 level of containment and utilizes several select target animal models such as pigs, cows, chickens and mice. The position requires the acquisition and maintenance of a DOJ Select Agent clearance.

Procurement Assistant in Manhattan, Kansas
The Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a full-time Procurement Assistant. This position will be responsible for working under the direction of the procurement officer 1 that is currently employed. Performing the tasks of assisting with the new inventory system by receiving incoming supply orders, doing product received counts, scanning product bar codes and shelving product to proper location(s). Acting as a back-up for the ordering of supply products, including CO2 gas tanks and laboratory supply items. Pulling supply products for laboratory sections to assure that each section has the needed products for all there testing requirements. This position will also be responsible for sterile processing for KSVDL and training of college employees on proper sterile processing.

This position plays a vital role in overseeing our nursing staff for the Medicine Section which includes Internal Medicine, Hill’s Pet Health, Urgent Care, Emergency, Dermatology, and Oncology services.
