About This Role:

Kansas State Polytechnic is seeking applications for a full-time Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) faculty member to join its School of Integrated Studies. The successful candidate is expected to be an active contributor to the college's teaching and research mission. Areas of teaching may include, but are not limited to, UAS design and construction, UAS maintenance, fixed-wing and multirotor flight operations, crew resource management, operational risk assessment, UAS autopilots and avionics, UAS sensors, and UAS mapping/data analysis.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
  • At least three years of experience in the UAS industry, academia, and/or military
  • At least one year of documented teaching experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of aviation regulations, and a commitment to fostering and expanding diversity
  • FAA Remote Pilot Certificate
  • The candidate must create an environment that supports interdisciplinary, multi-programmatic, and multi-institutional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in UAS flight instruction, crew resource management, operational risk assessment, advanced sensor technologies, UAS autopilots and avionics, UAS design and construction, UAS maintenance, fixed-wing and multirotor UAS flight operations, and/or UAS mapping/data analysis
  • Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline
  • Ability to work with both high school and college students
  • Additional FAA pilot and/or maintenance certificates
  • Research/sponsored project experience in industry or a record of scholarship in UAS

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
  • Applicants must meet accreditation credential requirements to teach college courses

Salary Range/ Pay Rate:

$50,000 - $80,000 Depending upon qualifications

Please note: the minimum salary for this position is $50,000. Actual salary will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, internal equity and departmental funding. Salary offers are typically made between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range. The range indicated includes both the typical hiring range and potential future progression.
