About This Role:

Core duties for this position includes: Fire/Security Systems – Work with various departments on campus and Honeywell on programming & development on a variety of fire & security systems; DDC Controls & Preventive Maintenance – Assist team members and other various departments on campus and Honeywell on programming & development on controls and PM work; Project Development – Participate and assist with startup and verification of new projects to ensure successful operational functionality and testing of fire & security systems; Information Technology Support – Work with Controls Team and other departments in Facilities on various technology and Hardware/Software Support – Assist in the setup of new IPads, computers, etc. Troubleshoot and maintain Facilities stand alone computer systems.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma and five years of relevant experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience with troubleshooting, installing and maintaining fire and/or security systems. This will include multiple types of systems including Honeywell, Simplex, Seimens, and others.
  • 3 years of experience with fire and/or security systems in a commercial or university setting.
  • CISCO or other networking certification
  • Familiarity with open systems and/or 3rd party integrations
  • Familiarity with Networks, Routers, WANs and other IT applications
  • Ability to read and understand electronic and electrical specifications, diagrams, and manuals, and use standard electronic test equipment and bench tools
  • Familiarity with JAMF, AIM or other software packages utilized by KSU
  • Ability to interface and effectively work with various groups and cultures.
  • Individual must balance multiple competing priorities, meet deadlines, be responsive and thrive in a team environment.
  • Self-driven, results-orientated with a positive outlook and clear focus.
  • Outstanding organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD.   
  • Associates Degree in Information Technology or another technical field
  • NICET Level I (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies)
  • NICET Level II or higher (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies)
  • Training on Honeywell Fire Systems
  • Training on PCSC Security Systems
  • Networking Certification
  • Training in other Honeywell Systems

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license upon employment 
  • Operate various state vehicles for transportation to job sites and delivery of materials/equipment as needed. 
  • Pass / maintain medical certification for respirator use upon employment.

Anticipated Salary Range/ Pay Rate:

$18.35 - $22.93 per hour

Actual salary will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, internal equity, and departmental funding.
