About This Role:

Kansas State University’s Aerospace and Technology Campus in Salina is seeking a dedicated Public Safety Officer to monitor and patrol the campus in order to ensure the safety and well-being of people, buildings, and property. This position responds to emergency calls or requests for assistance, notifying the proper authorities as needed in order to resolve situations.

This position will work the 4:00pm-12:00am shift, Monday through Friday, and will be eligible for a $.40 per hour shift differential.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Requires a high school diploma.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in security or related field
• Knowledge of rules & regulations pertaining to the use of KSU Salina buildings
• Able to detect suspicious conditions
• Good oral communication skills: must be able to write a report in a clear and concise manner
• Thorough knowledge of standard methods & Practices used in safeguarding buildings and premises including fire prevention and health and safety practices
• Ability to compile comprehensive reports of activities pertaining to safety and security
• Computer skills

Other Requirements:

• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
• Valid driver’s license upon employment and must be maintained.
• Must undergo a background investigation to include a fingerprint search of local, state, and federal files to determine whether a criminal record exists; Must not have been convicted of any state or federal crime or its equivalent; Must be of good moral character.
• Once employed, CPR and First Aid training will be required and must be maintained. Must have the ability to use fire extinguishers and other safety and security equipment as needed.
• Work requires moderate physical exertion in transporting items up to 50 pounds, on occasion, i.e.: fire extinguishers, ice melt;
• Ability to work varied hours, walk long distances, and remain on feet for an extended period of time.

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range:

$15.50-17.00/hour. Salary offers commensurate with experience and education.
