About This Role:

The Agronomy Department at Kansas State University is looking for a Research Technician to work at the Kansas River Valley Experiment Field, Topeka, KS.  The Kansas River Valley Experiment Field provides areas for research and extension activities.  This position is an integral part of the farm team and as such is responsible for carrying out many of the day to day activities including but not limited to: operating equipment to till, plant, fertilize, apply pesticides and harvest; irrigation of crops; interacting with faculty, research staff, graduate students and undergraduate students to facilitate their research activities; and maintaining farm facilities and equipment.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in farm practices, including tillage, planting, spraying and harvesting.
  • Pesticide applicators license, CDL.
  • Substantial experience in the operation, adjustment and maintenance of farm equipment. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with Faculty, Staff and Students.
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds repeatedly.

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range:

($14.61-$21.00.) 

Actual salary will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, education, internal equity and departmental funding.  Salary offers are typically made between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range.  The range indicated includes both the typical hiring range and potential future progression.
