About This Role:

The accountant manages all procurement, accounting, travel, and inventory duties for direct service departments listed below.  Ensures that university and Foundation funds are monitored and accounted for within university, state, and federal guidelines.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

     Experience:

  • At least five years of experience in electronic accounting procedures, software, and systems.
  • At least 3 years of experience in KSU account positions or positions with a major percentage of accounting duties (State & Foundation accounts).
  • Experience and knowledge working in higher education.

 

Skills:

  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, proofreading, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills. Ability to clearly express information.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – tact, patience, respect, and courtesy.
  • Strong problem solving, decision making, and time management skills.

 

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge and proficiency in accounting systems, Microsoft office suite, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Knowledge of procurement practices and procedures, including university policies and regulations.
  • Knowledge and experience with K-State and State of Kansas regulations, eForms, and the University FIS system.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of university budget verification, budget processes, and allocation information.

Abilities:

  • Ability to maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
  • Ability to seek out, comprehend, and apply university financial guidelines and regulations in relevant situations.  In addition, be able to explain such protocols to administration, staff, and students.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and representatives of other agencies and/or departments.  Participate as a contributing member of the office team.
  • Ability to learn quickly, determine priorities, take initiative, work independently, and work efficiently.

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
  • Incumbent must be eligible to receive a university procurement card.  Once hired, employee must apply for, receive, and maintain departmental procurement card.

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range:

$17.69 - $23.00 per hour ($36,791.00 - $47,840.00 annually)
