About This Role:

Join the Office of Recruitment and Admissions at K-State as an Admissions Representative! This position is located in Manhattan, Kansas, and will focus on recruiting efforts throughout the western half of Missouri with majority of time spent in Kansas City, Missouri. The Admissions Representative represents the university to the general public with the goal of attracting new undergraduates (freshmen and transfer) to K-State by driving interest, applications and enrollment. This role will initiate and maintain a timely, effective, and personal relationships with prospective students and family members throughout the recruitment process. Expected to apply knowledge of University admissions standards, scholarship and financial aid opportunities, processes for enrollment, academic majors and programs, and student leadership clubs and organizations, this position will guide prospective students and family members based on their individual needs, interests and aptitudes.

This role typically travels at least 60% in a recruitment cycle with some evenings and weekends required. Additional responsibilities of this role include:

  • Exercise independent judgment in developing travel schedules, determine priorities for scheduling visits and event attendance, and practice fiscal responsibility for the team’s budget.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of in-person and virtual recruitment events both on and off-campus, participate in orientation and enrollment programs and represent K-State at selected community engagement events.
  • Work closely within the K-State community to provide guidance, communication, promotional information, consultation and assistance to key partners such as Student Financial Assistance, Housing and Dining Services, academic colleges, and the K-State Alumni Association.
  • Coordinate volunteer efforts of alumni, parent/family, current students, faculty, and staff to assist in recruitment strategy.
  • Possess proficiency with technology and database systems to effectively support recruiting efforts.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree at time of appointment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A highly successful collegiate classroom experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills through involvement in campus academic and extracurricular activities (i.e., leadership in organized living groups, student organizations, service experiences)
  • Experience with CRM software, including knowledge of data filters
  • Demonstrated proficiency in multiple computer programs (Microsoft Office including knowledge of Excel), and efficient use of e-mail
  • Native or near-native Spanish language proficiency is helpful
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent organization skills, and the ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment
  • Be very familiar with and enthusiastic about K-State. Strong social skills and be able to meet people easily and adjust quickly to varying situations
  • Travel, including evenings and weekends, is an expectation of the position
  • Possess a high energy level and be able to work under strict deadlines
  • Self-motivation, a team attitude, and a consistent commitment to a high standard of excellence are essential
  • Helpful but not required to be K-State graduate with a highly successful collegiate experience

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license with ability to drive
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

$39,780 - $40,000 annually
