About This Role:

4-H Youth Development within K-State Research and Extension (KSRE) is recruiting for the position of Program Coordinator in Manhattan, Kansas. The Department of 4-H Youth Development seeks an enthusiastic professional to provide support to a statewide outreach program focusing on increasing youth engagement and facilitating learning loss mitigation strategies. Substantial time and effort for the position will focus on spring and summer seasons as summer intern recruitment and coordination is a large component of the appointment.

Programmatic priorities will focus on coordination of summer intern hiring, training and development, and youth engagement project support.  Program fiscal management, reporting, and coordination of evaluation efforts used to gauge program impact will be an important component of the position.  The position plans and organizes logistics and accounts for finances for statewide 4-H events.  The prospective hire would work extensively with other 4-H faculty and office professionals to accomplish programmatic goals.

This position is a grant funded position and continuation of the position is contingent upon continuing availability of funding and need for these services.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree. This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in fiscal management and reporting
  • Ability to coordinate workflow in support of programming
  • Extensive experience in event management and logistics coordination
  • Demonstrated communication skills (publications, presentations, web and social media)
  • Experience and demonstrated ability in working with youth and youth organizations including an understanding of positive youth development and youth program management
  • Experience in working with individuals, coworkers, and teams to accomplish individual and/or group goals, as evidenced by college, career, and/or community activities
  • Knowledge of basic educational methods and the ability to effectively communicate/teach program specific material
  • Ability to utilize electronic and online technologies for educational program delivery
  • Understanding of different ethnic and socioeconomic audiences and a commitment to developing and delivering both inclusive and targeted programming
  • Professional experience with electronic data management systems

 Other Requirements:

  • All K-State employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (unless granted an exemption by the university) by December 8, 2021 or their first day of employment, whichever is later, pursuant to the federal executive order for federal contractors.   • Position will require a willingness to travel in state and work nights and weekends as needed.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

$40,000 - $50,000
