About This Role:


This position supports university administrative systems within the Academic Technology unit in the Office of the Registrar. Systems include but are not restricted to student information system (KSIS/PeopleSoft Campus Solutions), room scheduling system (25Live), catalog system (Acalog), course and curriculum management system (Curriculog), degree audit system (uAchieve/DARS) and SSC Navigate.

 

Job Duties Include:

 

  • Assists Associate Registrar for Academic Technol0gy in the configuration, maintenance and testing of enterprise-wide student systems
  • Analyzes, troubleshoots and documents business problems to ensure system issues are identified, reported, tracked, and resolved rapidly
  • Serves as a liaison between technical staff and functional staff in troubleshooting and problem solving system issues
  • Participates in system upgrades by evaluating delivered functionality, testing, and participating in go-live activities.
  • Serves as a key functional analyst for KSIS and applies knowledge of multiple software systems to ensure accuracy of data amongst the systems.
  • Creates specifications and submits request to central IT for custom programming development
  • Creates and updates electronic forms and workflow structures
  • Writes complex internal reports and queries
  • Evaluates new functionality that may benefit the university, work with central IT to enable testing, and use vendor provided documentation to configure and test.  Apply new functionality to K-State business problems and system issues.
  • Trains personnel and gives university-wide presentations on use of university systems
  • Supports internal office functions and university administrative systems and requires a working knowledge of all areas within the unit; cross trains with other department functions to facilitate support and coverage.
  • Requires excellent communication skills, technical understanding, and customer service orientation in all areas of the Division of Enrollment Management and Office of the Registrar. Communicates a universal knowledge of all positions in the Office of the Registrar related to student academic records and key university systems.
  • Demonstrates quality service, innovation, creativity, ethical and proactive behavior and a working knowledge which includes but is not limited to: basic student records (program/plan, grades, enrollment, academic standing, graduation, etc), class and room scheduling, grade processing, and security
  • Supports the overall mission of the University, Enrollment Management, and the Office of the Registrar. Works to solve student issues with other areas of campus and special projects as assigned

Worksite Options:

This position is eligible for hybrid worksite. Work is performed partially remote and partially on employer premises or designated assignment location. This role is expected to work on-site approximately two (2) days a week.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Two years relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems or other information technology area
  2. Higher Education/post-secondary experience:  Three years progressively responsible experience in Enrollment Management (Admissions, Financial Aid, and Registrar) or experiences directly related area of expertise that interacts with the business processes handled by these offices.
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in a highly detailed work environment.
  4. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including an excellent command of the English language, grammar, and syntax
  5. Knowledge of curriculum and catalog processes, student records maintenance, registration/enrollment processes, degree and graduation processes, etc...
  6. Experience with database creation, support and administration – holding direct responsibility for any behind the scenes coding or structural changes to a system/database structure.
  7. Experience n SQL and/or PeopleSoft Query Tools
  8. Detailed technical knowledge and advanced general knowledge of Student Information Systems platform(s) - i.e. PeopleSoft/Oracle, u.achieve/DARS or DegreeWorks, Course and Curriculum Systems (Curriculog/Acalog or CAT/CIM), National Student Clearinghouse, etc….
  9. Ability to exercise independent judgment in evaluating situations, making decisions as well as grasp new techniques and updates to products/processes quickly.
  10. Experience working with diverse populations along with providing training and technical development, public speaking, presentations, customer service in higher education-related areas.
