About This Role

The College of Arts & Sciences at Kansas State University has an opening for an academic advisor to support select programs in the Natural and Quantitative Sciences. We seek a dedicated student-centered individual to help prepare students for success by connecting them with educational experiences tailored to their specific goals and needs.  The successful candidate will demonstrate patience, enthusiasm, and a sincere desire to assist students with appropriate course selection and development of academic and career goals while supporting student development in self-understanding and agency. It is expected that advisors will possess extensive knowledge about the university academic programs, policies, procedures and student support services. Organizational and communication skills, timeliness, cooperation and collaboration in a team environment are essential. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Worksite Option

This position is on-site. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location. 

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • Minimum 1 year mentoring, teaching, and or/ advising experience in STEM-related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-6 years’ advising related experience
  • Master's degree in relevant field
  • Knowledge of NACADA Core Competencies and best practices in academic advising
  • Understanding and knowledge of the mission of the College of Arts & Sciences, its programs and the programs offered at Kansas State University
  • Familiarity or experience with first-year students
  • Experience with student success tools such as SSC Navigate, familiarity with Microsoft Office 365.
  • Strong commitment to student success
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organization skills

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range
