About This Role

K-State Athletics is seeking qualified applicants for an ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF SOCIAL MEDIA & DIGITAL STRATEGY, which is a full-time, salaried, benefits-eligible position.
 
An example of job duties includes but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for day-to-day content management of assigned social media accounts; includes planning, scheduling and executing creative assets.
  • Creatively engage fans on social media before, during and after sporting events to build audience.
  • Provide live game coverage for K-State Athletics sporting events on social media.
  • Measure content performance and use data to continuously optimize strategy and workflow.
  • Participate in weekly meetings to ensure content is being properly planned for and distributed across social media channels.
  • Oversee social media internship program, including scheduling and training.
  • Maintain regular office hours, schedule project meetings and complete other associated work throughout the week including nights and weekends as needed.
  • Duties relating to storytelling, brand building, fan engagement through K-State’s digital platforms.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required by first day of employment, preferably in marketing, journalism, communications, computer science, sport management or other related field.
  • Two or more years of previous experience in web management and maintenance for the daily operations of a website, preferably in the communications or athletics field.
  • Experience working on various content management systems.
  • Writing, editorial and communication experience/skills
  • Strong experience, familiarity and understanding of popular social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikToc, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe cloud suite and average to above average capability in Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, computer science or related area
  • Two or more years of previous experience in web management for the daily operations of a website, preferable in the communications or athletic field
  • Writing, editorial and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of all social media platforms, including managing and posting to accounts
  • Experience working on various content management systems
  • Understanding of sporting landscape, industry standards and current digital and social media trends
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Lightroom
  • Knowledge of NCAA and Big 12 Conference recruiting rules and regulations

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communications skills, including both verbal and written
  • Exhibit meticulous attention to detail; must be organized and able to prioritize and manage multiple people, projects or tasks simultaneously
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required; may require occasional travel
  • Ability to maintain strong working relationships with all internal and external sta[ and management
