The Mike Wiegers Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (www.ece.ksu.edu) at Kansas State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the broad area of electronics. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, materials science, applied physics, or a closely related field; have a strong publication record; demonstrate a passion for research and teaching excellence; and have the potential to develop a vigorous extramurally funded research program.
The department will consider applications across the full spectrum of hardware-focused research, with particular interest in candidates whose work addresses one or more of the following areas: (1) AI-ready hardware and intelligent systems, including neuromorphic, compute-in-memory, and edge ML hardware; and (2) semiconductor materials, devices, circuits, and advanced packaging for applications in electronics, interconnects, optoelectronics, biosensing, and cyber physical systems through integrated subsystem demonstrators. The selected candidate will be expected to collaborate with departmental faculty and across the university to address emerging challenges at the intersection of intelligent hardware and semiconductor systems, in line with university and college priorities. The candidate will also be expected to teach core undergraduate electronics courses.
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, one of eight departments in the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering, has 19 faculty members and approximately 500 undergraduate and graduate students. The department is housed in the new Engineering Hall, which features state-of-the-art research laboratories, classrooms, and office spaces. The department maintains strong research programs in power systems, power electronics, electronics, wireless communications, network engineering, and biomedical engineering.
