About This Role

Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position specializing in formulation research with a primary focus on biopharmaceuticals and antibody therapeutics. We seek a dynamic and innovative researcher committed to excellence in research, teaching, and service. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a robust, externally funded research program that advances the field of biopharmaceutical formulation, specifically targeting the development and stabilization of therapeutic antibodies and related biologics. This position will be eligible for generous start-up funding, which provides crucial developmental support for early career investigators. In addition, the professor is expected to collaborate with current investigators in the newly established Biologics Development and Biomanufacturing Core Facility at Kansas State University.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Research and Scholarship:
    • Establish and maintain a competitive, externally funded research program in the formulation and stabilization of biopharmaceuticals, with an emphasis on antibodies.
    • Collaborate with internal and external research partners, including industry, government, and academic institutions.
    • Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present research at national and international conferences.
    • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in research projects.
  2. Teaching:
    • Design and teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to pharmaceutical formulation, biopharmaceuticals, and protein/antibody stability.
    • Develop new coursework or modules focusing on advanced topics in biopharmaceutical formulation science.
  3. Service:
    • Participate in departmental, college, and university committees.
    • Engage in professional service activities within relevant scientific societies.
    • Contribute to community outreach and engagement initiatives related to biopharmaceutical sciences.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated research experience in the formulation and stabilization of biopharmaceuticals, with a significant focus on antibody-based therapeutics.
  • A strong record of peer-reviewed publications in reputable scientific journals.
  • Effective communication and teaching skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Postdoctoral research experience in a related field.
  • Prior experience in obtaining or managing research grants.
  • Experience in mentoring students at various academic levels.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines and contribute to interdisciplinary research initiatives.
