About This Role

The Case Manager supports on-campus students by offering solution-focused, non-clinical assistance for a wide range of needs. They meet with students regularly, communicate through email, and document cases. Case Managers help students identify challenges, develop effective solutions, and build skills for success. They collaborate closely with Housing and Dining Services and Student Support and Accountability staff to identify students needing support, and frequently connect students to additional campus resources for further assistance. This is a full-time, 12 month term position that reports to the Director of Housing and Residence Life.

Duties include:

Active Case Management: Provide direct support to walk-in students facing a range of challenges, including mental health or medical concerns, academic difficulties, relational conflicts, trauma, social adjustment issues, and transitions to college. Make timely referrals to appropriate campus and community resources and help students develop problem-solving and self-advocacy skills. Communicate concerning student situations to support early intervention.

Outreach: Plan, create, and deliver presentations on student life services. Participate and provide an active presence at various outreach opportunities and events. Manage, schedule, and respond to all requests for presentations.

On-Campus Housing Community Building & Relationships: Develop, coordinate, present and actively participate in educational initiatives and training opportunities. Serve as a liaison to residence hall Community Coordinators and other departmental staff within assigned residential communities.

Student Follow-Up & Assessment: Coordinate satisfaction surveys and complete final case close-outs to evaluate resolution of student concerns. Conduct semi-annual audits of student cases and contribute to regular sharing of student and program success stories.

Campus Community Office Liaison: Collaborate with students and campus partners to address concerns, provide support, and advocate for student needs across the university.

The duties of this position are performed on-site.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and four years of relevant experience.
  • Requirements may be met through a combination of work experience and education.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, family studies and human services, or related field.
  • One-two years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in a college/university environment.
  • Experience working with student behavioral and support intervention in an educational setting.
  • Experience using a case management database software, preferably the Maxient system.
  • Training and/or demonstrated experience in student crisis and emergency situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to provide timely follow-up emails, messages, meetings, and case notes.
  • Ability to comfortably work in changing, sometimes ambiguous environments, with the ability to make appropriate decisions and establish best practices.
